Oxytocin 10mg Injection
What is Oxytocin

Oxytocin injection is a synthetic version of the naturally occurring hormone oxytocin, which plays a key role in labor and postpartum recovery. This medication is commonly used in obstetric care to induce or augment labor, helping to initiate or strengthen uterine contractions. It may also be administered after childbirth to reduce the risk of excessive bleeding (postpartum hemorrhage) by promoting effective uterine contractions that help the uterus return to its normal size.
The injection is typically given intravenously (IV) by a trained healthcare provider in a hospital or clinical setting, where the patient’s response can be closely monitored. Oxytocin’s effects are usually rapid, and the dosage is carefully controlled to avoid overstimulation of the uterus, which could pose risks to both mother and baby.
